Two tenants, Kudirat Adeshile and Adelankun Adeshile have been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for brutally battering their landlady, name withheld, for disturbing them over house rent.

The incident happened at their residence, 11 Oladimeji street, Aguda in Surulere.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered the embattled landlady who did not want her name appear in print suffered her fate when she went to demand for the rent from the suspects.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspects had pleaded with her to bear with them to raise the money to pay her because of economic challenges or give them notice to park out.

However, the Landlady did not want it that way and was coming to them demanding for the rent to the extent that neighbours have to be aware of what was happening.

On that fateful day when the landlady to demand for the money, they pleaded as usual but she persisted, shouting in the compound which drew the attention of other tenants. This led to the tenants attacking the landlady and she sustained injury in the process.

She was taken to a hospital after which the matter was reported to the police at Aguda division who arrested the suspects.

At the station, the tenant told the police that they have told the landlady that they have no money to pay her for the rent and she should be patient with them until they get money.

They alleged that she had been coming to their apartment to harass and disgrace them and was no longer ready to bear the assault.

The explanation did not go down well with the police who said they committed criminal offence and charged them before Ikeja Magistrate’s court with assault.

When they were arraigned, they pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Layinka granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition.
