In a move aimed at strengthening voluntary blood donation awareness and supporting life-saving healthcare interventions in Nigeria, Total Health Trust (THT), A Tangerine Company and Tangerine Insurance in partnership with the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Center, has announced the 2026 edition of the Tangerine Blood Donor Drive initiative scheduled to hold on June 26, 2026, at the Sports Center, University of Lagos.

Now in its 5th year, this initiative has served as a platform to promote awareness around the importance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives in hospitals and emergency care facilities, by mobilizing young people, corporate professionals, healthcare advocates, and members of the public to donate blood.

Nigeria continues to face significant blood shortages, with many patients requiring urgent blood transfusions for surgeries, maternal healthcare, accident emergencies, cancer treatment, and sickle cell management.

The Tangerine Blood Donor Drive campaign is a significant contribution to addressing this challenge while encouraging a stronger culture of civic responsibility and community healthcare participation.

Speaking on the initiative, Tonye Ukpong MD/CEO of Total Health Trust (THT) remarked, “This initiative reflects our commitment to building healthier communities through action, advocacy, and collaboration. We are not only creating awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation, but also fostering a culture where people understand that healthcare is everyone’s responsibility. We are proud to partner with stakeholders and volunteers who share this vision of saving lives together”.

According to MD/CEO of Tangerine Life, the brand believes insurance is about protecting lives, not just through our products, but through our actions.

“Our blood donation drive is a simple yet powerful way to give hope, save lives, and support our communities. We are proud of every volunteer who will be making a difference, because together, we are creating impact where it matters most,” Ukpong added.

In his statement, MD/CEO of Tangerine General said, every unit of blood donated represents an opportunity to save a life.

“That is why Tangerine is committed to fostering a culture of compassion, service, and shared responsibility. I am incredibly proud of our employees and partners who will be demonstrating that the greatest acts of kindness which often comes from simply showing up for others. Together, we are giving more than blood, we are giving hope.”

The event will feature professionally supervised blood donation stations, free health checks, wellness engagement activities, community participation opportunities, and interactive awareness sessions focused on public health and preventive care.

The campaign aims to create a healthcare movement that encourages greater participation from various segments of residents across Lagos and Nigeria as a whole.

As part of efforts to maximize impact, THT and Tangerine Insurance are open to partnering with healthcare institutions, volunteers, media organizations, influencers, and community groups to drive awareness and encourage participation before and during the event.

Corporate brands, NGOs, media platforms, and community leaders available to support the initiative through partnerships, awareness amplification, volunteer participation, and sponsorship collaboration can contact the team on communication@tangerine.africa.

The campaign presents an opportunity for Lagos residents to contribute directly to saving lives while promoting a stronger culture of public health consciousness and social impact.
