Political clout or relevance is not gotten by wishful thinking. Relevance is gotten by the ability to build personal structures and avowed followership gotten by sacrificial hard work and impact on humanity overtime. Say what you may about Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu, fondly called POI, the opinion is entirely that of the holder but the sad part is, most of these opinions stern from spurious hearsay and fabricated propaganda against the sterling image of this fine gentleman, so I owe him the due diligence to tame every erroneous sprouting tendrils about him.
Like him or hate him, aside his administrative capacity, his intellect and his emotional attachment to everything EDO, what can’t be detracted from him is his verifiable political clout, astuteness, sagacity “Juggernautiism”, his unifying attributes that have defined his personality, his national relevance, appeal and political weight he has been able to pull over the years.
Little wonder therefore, the widespread acceptance of his homecoming, nomination and candidacy within the ranks of the Edo State All progressive Congress.
With the party repositioned and the recent supreme court judgement which reaffirmed the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, the stage is now set for the reclaimation of Edo State to the comity of APC States in Nigeria.
As the All progressive Congress prepares to reclaim Edo state from the contaminated hands of the current handlers, POI’s edge amongst the arrays of gubernatorial aspirants is very pellucid, its alluringly glaring that he’s the best Man for the Job. Politics, they say is local, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu’s grassroot appeal, love and acceptance across the units, wards, LGAs and the three senatorial districts of the State is indeed a positive edge.
Haven lived all his life in Benin, he is fully abreast with the challenges that irks us, Edo runs in his veins, the passion to seeing a better Edo has led to his repeated desire to lead the State and as a show of his readiness to change the narrative into a progressive one, he has since developed a SIMPLE blueprint, an agenda that seek to develop the State. And to put credence to the fact that his understanding of the issues are top notch. Security challenge and ways to resolving it, tops the agenda of the well articulated and thought through manifesto.
The party, the APC obviously on a reset mode is in dire need of reconciliation and unification, POI has the relative political experience and astuteness to balance the tilt. His years of active politicking has earned him the ability to carry the ‘good’, ‘the bad’ and ‘the ugly’ along with everyone having a sense of belonging. He is well positioned as an untiring political tactician, mobilizer and organiser to create an environment for healthy politics that would engender good governance. This is another edge POI have over and above other aspirants.
We need a strong, bold and positively vociferous leader, a goal getter, a determined mind and one with the right negotiation and navigational skill in sailing through, to securing bounties for Edo State. We need a pragmatic leader who is down to earth, accessible and understand that people are meant to be valued, appreciated with dividends of democracy deliverables.
Edo must surely move forward with POI at the helms.
