At every point in time, Chinese leaders make bold statements about the future they want to accomplish. They paint the picture so lucidly that it becomes a sing-song amongst the people.
In 2010, everyone in Anambra knew clearly, even without reading the full length of the manifesto that Soludo promised Ndi Anambra the ADT — African-Dubai-Taiwan. This was so clear to all, as that was to be the first time most people could find actual benchmarks for a Politician’s promise. Something different from “political statements”. Sadly, it wasn’t God’s time for nwa Mgbafor.
Fast forward to 2021, when people thought that the ADT would resurface as the statement of promise, Prof. Soludo came up with a fresh and more powerful vision focus; “To make Anambra a Liveable and prosperous homeland. Such that a child born today in Anambra will find no compelling reason to leave its shores for better opportunities outside”. This is the kind of strong statements I have seen in China 🇨🇳. Either from chairman Mao, the Reformist Deng or forward looking Xi.
Apart from Xi “Belt and Road” initiative, he is driving China through the hard path of environmental sustainability. Today, they speak of “Lush Mountains and Lucid waters”… The Anambra vision 2070 (a 50-year development plan) envisions Anambra as a “liveable and prosperous smart megacity”. Soludo is leading the foundational charge as the first Governor to begin its implementation. This is leadership, not rhetoric! I hope we would find same across other subnationals as Lagos has proven that every good thing begins as an idea.
