Ogbunike’s town union government election is scheduled for tomorrow Saturday April 8, 2023. The Ogbunike Progress Union (OPU) led by Comrade Ikegulu Chukwugozie, has promised to conduct a free, fair, transparent, and credible election.
Three prominent sons of Ogbunike have declared for the OPU’s Presidency and they are candidates from Ukalor village, where the OPU’s Presidency is zoned: Dr Jeff Modeme, Chief Tochukwu Obiakor, Hon. Izuchukwu Emesiani.
A prominent and illustrious son of Ogbunike, Barr Nnanna Ezigbo, is currently campaigning vigorously seeking for the position of Legal Adviser to the town’s union government, while Ogbuefi Barr Chukwuma Odelugo, who had earlier declared interest on the legal department is mobilizing for support. In Amawa Ogbunike, there is an ongoing conversation about the zoning formula for the legal office, this would definately play a key role in the OPU election.
In Umueri Ogbunike, there are two beloved brothers, Hon. Mbamalu Uchenna David (Omeifeukwu) and Nze Mbamalu Anthony Uchenna, they are presently caught in a keen contest for the position of OPU’s General Secretary. The position of the general scribe of Ogbunike is such a great one, it serves as the engine room of OPU, therefore, the onus is on the good people of Ogbunike to carefully evaluate and pick the best candidate for the job.
Since the lifting of ban on Anambra State Town’s Union elections by the State Government, the OPU election 2023 has witnessed issue-oriented campaigns, the contestants have gone round the villages, met with critical stakeholders; village union leaders, youths organizations, and traditional chieftaincy institutions,  marketing their manifestos, and soliciting support. Unarguably, this is going to be the most keenly contested OPU election in recent times.
All three contestants to OPU Presidency are viscerally University graduates, with impressive backgrounds. It appears that all the candidates have strong desire to offer productive leadership to Ndi Ogbunike. Tommorrow Saturday, 8th of April 2023 will produce the best man, one who is fit to govern the Cave City, to lead the community to the next level, to an enviable heights.
In spite of the rating of Ogbunike today by neighbours and other communities in Anambra, Ogbunike has remained a great town to be reckoned with any day. The reason for this is because ndi Ogbunike as a people are the most intelligent, creative, hardworking, and industrious people anywhere in the world. More so, Ogbunike is blessed in many ways with varied resources unlike most Anambra communities.
To make Ogbunike great, ndi Ogbunike are called upon to effectively participate in order to stand the chance of choosing better leader at the OPU General Elections. This is since the democracy has remained the power of the citizens to chose the candidates to be their right leaders.
