In the realm of wishful thinking, a few individuals still dare to insist that Peter Obi or Atiku Abubakar emerged victorious in the February 25 presidential election. However, reality proves otherwise as the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) predicts that President Bola Tinubu’s victory will stand firm and unyielding, immune to the whims of wishful thinkers.
The EIU, renowned for its accurate projections, had foreseen Tinubu’s triumph in the presidential poll. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) duly declared him the winner, leaving no room for ambiguity. Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), garnered a resounding victory, outclassing 17 other contenders with a total of 8,794,726 votes.
Undeterred by the reality, some individuals still cling to their fanciful dreams, asserting that Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), or Peter Obi, who came third in the election, could overturn Tinubu’s well-deserved victory. Their claims are mere delusions, as the facts remain irrefutable.
EIU, once again, confirmed that Tinubu’s triumph is unassailable, leaving no room for doubt. His strategic focus on winning the support of the Muslim north secured his victory, while the futile calls for secession from the Christian-majority South bear no weight.
Despite the clarity of the electoral results, Atiku and Obi continue their desperate attempts to challenge Tinubu’s win at the Presidential Election Petitions Court. Alas, their endeavours are akin to tilting at windmills – futile and without substance.
In the Court of reality, Tinubu’s victory stands as a testament to the will of the Nigerian people, who entrusted him with the mandate to lead the nation. The EIU’s projection and the INEC’s declaration are unwavering evidence of a well-deserved triumph.
As the echoes of wishful thinking dissipate, let us embrace the reality of the election results. The time has come to acknowledge the resounding victory of President Bola Tinubu and look forward to a future marked by progress, unity, and prosperity under his leadership. It is time to bid farewell to fantasies and embrace the truth that is evident before us.
