Justice may have come the way of a 13-year old girl, who was gang raped by three friends in a popular hotel in Lagos recently.
P.M.EXPRESS reports this followed the arrest and arraignment of one of the suspects, a 20-year old, Toheeb Mustapha, who arranged the dastardly act at the popular Taver Hotel located at Oremeji Street, Isuti Road, Egan area of Igando, Lagos, where they reside.
Toheeb was arrested after the act while the other accomplices escaped and now at large. He was charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy and defilement which attracts life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty.
However, the Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Supol Kehinde Ajayi, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Ajibade, order his remand in Correctional Centre and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 17th December, 2020, for report of the DPP advice to be available while Toheeb may be transferred to the High Court for prosecution if the DPP’s report finds him culpable and recommends his trial for defilement.
The victim was defiled after Toheeb lured her to the hotel where two of his friends joined him and they took turns to rape her. She was said to have bled profusely before they waited at night, dumped her in front of her house in the pool of her blood and escaped.
The matter was reported to the Police at Igando Division and Toheeb was arrested and later transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command at Ikeja and he was charged to Court.
