Following the emergence of Comr. Joe Ajaero as the newly elected President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), on Wednesday, 8th February, 2023, at the just concluded 13th National Delegates’ Conference in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, where he was elected unopposed among the delegates, the frontline candidate of Labour Party for Orlu senatorial zone, Chief Charles Ugochukwu Ahize-Chukwu, has sent in his heartwarming congratulatory message to the new NLC leader, Joe Ajaero.
Ajaero, who until his emergence as President was the Deputy National President of the Labour Union, made history by emerging unopposed by dint of hard work, consistency, perseverance, teamwork and trusted leadership direction in piloting the affairs of the Union as the second in command. Until his emergence, he was also the general secretary of the Nigerian Union of Electricity Employers.
While commending the National Executive Working Committee of the Nigeria Labour Union (NLC) on the success of the Congress that produced the new leadership; Chief Charles Ahize, however, saluted the courage, tenacity and leadership resilience of the newly elected President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, for standing with the Nigerian workers and other trade unionists in their trying times even as he had continued to push over the years, for a better social welfare package and improved renumeration among Nigerian workers.
The goodwill message nay admonition from Chief Charles Ahize to the newly elected NLC President, Ajaero, is coming on the heels of his years of experience as a social crusader, activist and founder of Obi -Igbo; a pan Igbo socio-cultural group, which served as a platform to fight for equity, fairness, justice and inclusive leadership of the Igbo people in the Nigerian political space.
Trusting in the leadership capacity, physical and mental fitness of the Emekuku, Owerri North-Imo State born Union leader, Comr. Joe Ajaero, Chief Charles Ahize gave the assurances of partnering with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), by strengthening legislations that will improve on the standard of living and welfare packages of short- exchanged Nigerian workers if elected as the Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, by the grace of God.
