The operatives from the Imo State Police Command have arrested the traditional ruler of Obor Community in Awara, Oguta area of Imo State, one Example Andrew, a Pastor and 8 others for their alleged kidnapping and murder of two officials of the NDLEA in cold blood.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that they were paraded at the Police headquarters in Owerri with eight members of their gang by the Commissioner of Police, Isaac Akinmoyede.
They allegedly killed two officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) few months ago.
The Police boss stated that the gang used the traditional ruler’s car for their operations, while the Pastor was the gang leader for the dastardly act.
CP Akinmoyede said N4.2m which belonged to their kidnapped victims as part of ransom was recovered from them during the operation which lasted for several days.
He also added that, one Lexus SUV, four AK-47 rifles got recovered as exhibit. It was learnt that one of the rifles belonged to the deceased NDLEA personnel. Also recovered from them was 120 rounds of live ammunitions.
He said that the monarch was given the sum of N3m from the ransom they got from their kidnapping operations while the remaining loot was shared among the gang.
The Police boss said that the suspects will be charged before the Court after the conclusion of the investigations for kidnapping and murder which attracts life imprisonment if they are tried and found guilty.
