Men of the Rapid Respond Squad in Lagos were shocked after one of the traffic robbers operating on the 3rd Mainland Bridge mocked the officers who came to arrest them, dived into the lagoon with their loot and escaped.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on the 3ird Mainland Bridge in Lagos en route Lagos Island where they robbed passengers.

The robber who escaped was said to have dived into the lagoon with their loot upon seeing the officers, raised his head and mocked the police by waving at them while escaping. The police officers were helpless as they did not anticipate that the suspect will do such as they have rounded them up for arrest on top of the bridge.

However, they were able to arrest three of the gang members who were unable to jump into the lagoon.
The suspects were, John Akinyemi, 27, Amos Williams, 21 and Paul Olise, 37, who also confessed that one of their gang members actually dived into the lagoon and escaped with their loot.

The suspects were paraded by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, at the State Command, Lagos.
The police boss said that on 3rd September, 2018 at 12.40pm, the police patrol team stationed on the Lagos Mainland Bridge attached to the RRS of the Command, on pin-down duties, received information that robbers were robbing passengers on the 3rd Mainland Bridge. He said that based on the information, the team led by one Inspector Emmanuel Isagua, swung into action and arrested the suspects.
CP Edgal said that the suspects have since been identified by one of their victims and the police also recovered their operational vehicle, one yellow coloured commercial Volkswagen bus with registration number AKD 562XP.
He said that the police were making efforts to arrest other members of the gang and that the suspects already arrested will be charged to court.
Edgal thanked and commended the public for reposing their confidence in the police which had assisted the police to achieve much on the protection of lives and properties.
He assured that the police will do their best to ensure that criminals will not have space to operate and only have the option to leave the state because they will surely be arrested.
