In response to the outcry from Imolites regarding the alleged sharp practices of the Special Adviser on Illegal Parks, ‘Pastor’ Frank Onwumere, the Imo State government has addressed the distress call of Owerri residents concerning the blockage of certain roads in the state capital by the Trailer Drivers Association. This blockage was a result of the alleged manhandling of their members.
During an on-the-spot assessment, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Sir Nnamdi Anyaehie, ordered the immediate release of all impounded vehicles, which were subsequently returned to their owners on the spot.
While speaking to some of the drivers, Chief Anyaehie stated that the government would never authorize any state official to victimize citizens.
He emphasized that all government appointees must conduct themselves appropriately and perform their duties with a human face.
Additionally, the Chief of Staff promised that the state government would repair some of the trailers whose parts, such as tires, were damaged.
He also assured that an investigation into the alleged misconduct of Frank Onwumere would commence to uncover the facts behind the accusations.
Accompanying the Chief of Staff to the scene were the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma; the Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chika Abazu; the Deputy Chief of Staff, Barr. Emeka Agbor ; and other government appointees.
