The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL), Mr. Idowu Oguntona, has commended the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for increasing the fleet of buses under the management of the company from an initial 50 to 252 buses in less than two years.

Oguntona, who gave the commendation while speaking as a guest on a Lagos Television programme tagged “Lagos Today”, said that the gesture of the Governor underscores his commitment towards effective traffic management and transportation in the State.

The MD/CEO said that LBSL has continued to provide smart and affordable transportation solutions that meet the needs of a megacity like Lagos, stressing that LBSL is constantly providing reliable and safe transportation for over 50,000 Lagosians on a daily basis.

Oguntona stated that the increasing population of Lagos State poses a huge transportation challenge to the Government, revealing that the Agency will soon deploy additional 60 buses to further ameliorate the transportation needs of residents of the State.

He noted that with the quality of services offered by LBSL, individuals that hitherto use their personal cars and other means of transportation now prefer to ride with LBSL buses, thereby reducing traffic gridlock on Lagos roads.

In readiness to key into the smart city drive of the State Government, the LBSL boss disclosed that LAMATA has concluded plans to deploy the “Cowry Card” which will provide digital platforms and automated fare system to make it easier for commuters to access the services.

Oguntona further stated that the company has continued to educate and inform its staff and commuters on the need to observe all safety protocols in order curtail the spread of the dreaded COVID-19, adding that the company has continued to comply strictly with all government directives on the disease.

While advising commuters to always look out for stickers on the buses for proper identification as there are other public transportation companies operating in the State, Oguntona maintained that LBSL is currently collaborating with LAGFERRY with a view to taking commuters to their various destinations after getting off from Ferries.

The LBSL Boss appreciated Lagosians for keeping faith with the State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and implored them to always take safety precautions, especially when using the LBSL bus services.
