Truck Driver Docked For Diverting Company’s Goods Worth N51m On Highway

A 47-year old truck driver, Monday Irehovbude, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly diverting 45,000 Litres of AGO products worth N51m belonging to the Managing Director, De-Acrux Logistics Ltd. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 18th October,2025, between Epe toll gate and Ijebu Ode toll gate, where the driver allegedly diverted the product, sold it and dumped the empty truck on the highway.

 

According to the Police, the driver and others now at large conspired against the advice of the management of NUPENG not to move at night for security reasons.

 

The driver probably ignored the advice and moved that night in order to achieve his goal as he did not deliver the product to the destination having sold it and escaped.

 

The matter was reported to the Assistant Inspector General of Police,  Zone 2 Command Onikan, Lagos. The Police operatives moved into action, eventually arrested and detained the driver for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

 

After investigation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read :

COUNT 1:”That you, Monday Irehovbude ‘m’ and others now at large, on the 18th October 2025, within the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit, robbery, stealing of AGO Product 45,000 litres valued at N51,750,000.00 belonging to Mr. Okunghe Desmond, MD De-Acrux Logistics Ltd, between Epe toll gate and Ijebu Ode toll gate and your conduct was likely to cause breach of peace and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, Monday Irehovbude ‘M’ and others now at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did rob a truck loaded with 45,000 litres AGO Product valued at N51,750,000.00  belonging to Mr. Okunghe Desmond, MD De-Acrux Logistics Ltd, between Epe toll gate and Ijebu Ode toll gate and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 279 (1) (2) of the criminal laws of Lagos State 2015.”

 

COUNT III:” That you, Monday Irehovbude ‘M’ and others now at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal 45,000 litres of AGO product belonging to Mr. Okunghe Desmond, MD De-Acrux Logistics Ltd, between Epe Toll gate and Ijebu Ode toll gate, valued at N51,750,000.00 (FIFTY-ONE MILLION, SEVEN HUNDRED AND FIFTY OUSAND NAIRA) and dropped the empty truck along Sagamu Ijebu-Ode Expressway and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 280 (a) of the criminal laws of Lagos State 2015.”

 

COUNT IV:” That you, Monday Irehovbude ‘M’ and others now at large, on the date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by disobeying the company rules and NUPENG rules to embark on the night journey against the any rules, without the consent of the management of the company and committed an offence punishable under Section 168 Lagos State 2015.”

 

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The Prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
