Two Arraigned For Allegedly Attacking Victim At Excellence Hotel Roundabout

Two defendants, Modu Abdullahi and Mohammed Haruna, have been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba over allegations of assault near Excellence Hotel Roundabout, Ogba, Lagos. 

 

The charge sheet showed that the Commissioner of Police filed three counts in relation to an incident which allegedly occurred on April 26, 2026 at about 5:36 p.m. within the Ikeja Magisterial District.

 

Count One alleged that the defendants conspired to commit felony, specifically assault and occasioning harm, contrary to Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

 

Count Two alleged that the defendants assaulted one Samson Oderinde, contrary to Section 170(b) and punishable under Section 172 of the same law.

 

Count Three alleged that the assault involved a dangerous object which reportedly inflicted injuries on the complainant’s forehead and left leg, contrary to Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

 

The document indicated that officers from Area G Command, Ogba, handled the investigation.

 

However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. The prosecutor, SP Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove the allegations.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.Kusanu, granted themm bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.

 

The case was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the Correctional Center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect the bail conditions.

 

Excellence Hotel Roundabout is a busy junction in Ogba known for high foot traffic, commercial activity, and evening crowds.

Legal observers say conspiracy charges are often filed when prosecutors allege that two or more persons acted together to commit an offence under the Lagos law.

The Nigeria Police Force has advised residents to report incidents of assault around public landmarks promptly for investigation.

The Criminal Law of Lagos State provides penalties for assault and related offences, depending on the evidence established in court.

Nigeria’s constitution guarantees that every accused person is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent court.

The matter is expected to continue on an adjourned date with arraignment, plea taking, and other procedural steps before the Ikeja Magistrate Court.
