Two community leaders at Mopo Village in Eti Osa, Lagos has been arraigned before a Lagos Magistrates’ Court for allegedly unlawfully entering into a land belonging to one Mrs. Adaobi Okolo with alleged intent to take over the land from her.
The accused persons, Akinlade Shakiru, 58 and Emmanuel Akintola, 59 were arrested by the Operatives of the General Investigation Department, FCIID, Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos and arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate Court on a five-count charge bordering on unlawful entry and conduct likely to cause breach of the peace.
Police Counsel, Moruf Animashaun, Esq. informed the Court in charge No A/8A/2018 that the accused persons committed the offence in 2016 at Mopo Akinlade Village, Mopo, Eti Osa, Lagos.
Animashaun told the Court that the accused and others still at large invaded the land belonging to the complainant, Okolo with intent to unlawfully take over the land from her.
He said that the offences the accused committed were punishable under Sections 411, 52, 53, 410 and 168(d) of the criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the alleged offence in the open Court and their lawyer, Oluwaseun Oluyide prayed the Court to admit the defendants to bail in the most liberal terms because they were family members who would not jump bail.
Chief Magistrate Mrs. O.O Oshin granted them bail in the sum of N250,000 each with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till 7 March for mention.
Oshin however ordered that the defendants be kept at the Ikoyi Prison, Lagos till they fulfill the bail conditions.
