Two accused persons, Dele Alo, 22, and Samson Aremu, 26, were on Monday docked at an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ekiti, for allegedly stealing property valued at N800, 000 belonging to the Ekiti State Government.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Bankole Olasunkanmi, said that the accused, whose address was not disclosed in court, connived with others currently at large to commit the offence between May and August 16, 2017.
Olasunkanmi said that the accused perpetrated the act at the Ministry of Agriculture, Erinfun Quarters along Poly Road, Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendants stole a silo-conveyor cover iron valued at N800,000, property of Ekiti State’s Ministry of Agriculture.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 390 (4) (F and G) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2017.
The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendants pleaded not guilty, and their counsel, Mr. Timi Omotosho, urged the court to grant the accused bail, promising it that they would not jump bail.
The chief magistrate, Mr. Idowu Ayenimo, in his ruling granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Sep. 30 for hearing.
