Two Suspects Arraigned In Court Over Alleged N13m Theft In Ikorodu

Two suspects, Quadri Bolaji, 33 and a woman, Fatimoh Arepo, 25, arraigned before the Ogba Magistrate Court in Lagos State for allegedly conspiring to steal N13m belonging to Mrs. Adesegun Idayat Ebun in Ikorodu area of the State. 

 

The legal proceedings began following a thorough investigation by the Command Tactical Squad (Area ‘N’ & ‘H’) of the Lagos State Police Command, led by CSP Godfrey Soriwei.

 

According to the official charge sheet, the primary incident culminated on May 6, 2026, at approximately 3:00 PM at the Baruwa Complex Garage located in Ikorodu.

 

The prosecution stated in count one that the defendants conspired with other individuals, who are currently at large, to commit a felony, specifically stealing.

 

The alleged conspiracy constitutes an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

 

The second count detailed that the systematic theft occurred over a three-year window, spanning from April 2023 up until May 6, 2026.

During this extended period, the suspects allegedly stole a cumulative sum of thirteen million Naira (N13,000,000.00) belonging entirely to Mrs. Adesegun Idayat Ebun.

 

This act of theft violated Section 280 and stands punishable under Section 287 (7) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

Upon the reading of the two-count charge, both Quadri Bolaji and Fatimoh Arepo firmly pleaded not guilty to the allegations brought against them.

 

The prosecutor, SP Josephine Ihkayere then asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove the allegations.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Center in Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the perfection of his bail.

 

Legal analysts observing the case noted that under Nigerian law, both defendants are strictly presumed innocent until a final court judgment proves otherwise.
