Two Women Remanded In Prison For Allegedly Stealing Neighbour’s Provision

Two women, Oluchi Okafor and Grace Nnamani have landed in trouble after they allegedly conspired with a house help to steal beverages from their neighbour’s shop for their families breakfast which went on for several months until they were caught.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspects were stealing those items such as eggs, sardine, butter, cornflakes, bread, milk groundnut oil among others from the big provision store located at 35 Afolabi Obe street in Orioke, Ejigbo, Lagos where they reside, until the shop become barely empty.
The suspects were arrested and charged before a Lagos Magistrates court and have been remanded in prison custody.
Our correspondent gathered that the owner of the shop, Mrs Helen Emma engaged the service of a house help who the suspects conspired with to be stealing those items stocked for sales.
It was gathered that they were taking those items from the shop mainly for their families’ breakfast for those months freely without paying even the help any dime.
However, the matter was exposed when the owner went to the shop to take stock of the goods, and discovered most of the items were missing with no record that they were sold.
It was gathered that when the house girl was asked what happened to those missing goods, she confessed that the suspects have being coming to the shop to take beverages for their breakfast.
They were promptly arrested and taken to the Ejigbo Police division where they reportedly confessed and claimed it was a credit facility from the house help.
However, they did not explain why they did not inform the owner before they embarked on such credit.
They were charged with conspiracy and stealing before Isolo Magistrates court for the alleged offence.
They pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr O.N. Ogbe granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail.
The matter was adjourned till 27 May 2017.
