Two Years Of APC Gainful Governance: A Sustainable Pathway For Greater Ebonyi State

Two years ago, a new chapter began in the story of Ebonyi State, a chapter marked by vision, transformation, and meaningful progress. With the All Progressives Congress (APC) steering the affairs of the state, and His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru at the helm, the journey so far has been one of hope, action, and undeniable results. Much like the message of salvation brought by Christ, the leadership of Governor Nwifuru has brought light and purpose to a once overlooked region.

From the onset, the APC demonstrated wisdom in presenting a leader who not only understands the state’s challenges but also has the energy, experience, and empathy to address them. Governor Nwifuru has proven to be that man leader rooted in the soil of Ebonyi, grounded in knowledge, and driven by a burning passion to uplift his people.

It is often said that strong leaders are born from strong political parties. In this case, the APC has given Ebonyi a governor whose leadership is not only strategic but compassionate. His actions speak louder than speeches, and his achievements are felt across every part of the state. Governor Nwifuru is a man of peace and unity. Under his leadership, internal divisions within the political landscape have given way to collaboration, stability, and growth.

Gone are the days of rancor and unrest. Ebonyi is no longer held back by internal wrangling or political bitterness. Instead, we are witnessing harmony and purpose, signs of a state being rebuilt on the principles of honesty, inclusiveness, and genuine service.

Governor Nwifuru’s approach to governance proves that leadership is not about power but about impact. His administration has focused on three main pillars: poverty eradication, infrastructural development, and sustainable industrial growth. These pillars are not just promises, they are being turned into reality.

One of the most remarkable steps toward industrialization is the ongoing construction of the Industrial City in Ezzangbo. This is more than a physical structure; it is a symbol of a new economic dawn. Thousands of jobs are expected to be created, and the youths of the State will have a home for their talents, energy, and innovation.

Another signature achievement is the 5-span Enyim-Agbaja Bridge. Far beyond being just a bridge, it connects local communities to broader markets, boosting agricultural trade and making life easier for farmers and businesses. The Governor is not just building for today, he is laying a foundation for tomorrow.

Governor Nwifuru’s commitment to healthcare is equally outstanding. Medical doctors in general hospitals across all 13 local government areas now earn significantly increased allowances—from ₦150,000 to ₦500,000. Under his leadership, the Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency (EBSHIA) has expanded its coverage from 34,500 to over 137,000 residents. Vulnerable groups including children under five, the elderly, people with disabilities, and those living with HIV/AIDS are now covered under health insurance, something many states in Nigeria are yet to achieve.

No wonder the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ebonyi described these as “signature projects,” recognizing their potential to place the state on the global map. These are not random efforts; they are deliberate steps taken with foresight and a strong desire to improve lives.

The story continues with roads, 48 of them completed within just 18 months. These are not just roads on paper. The 10km Ezillo-Ezzagu Road and the 12.239km Okposi-Ojigwe Road are already in use, easing movement for farmers, traders, students, and ordinary citizens. These roads are economic lifelines, quiet heroes of commerce and connection. The ongoing Vanco flyover, which features underground tunnels, stands out as a project for the future, designed to modernize urban mobility and reduce congestion in Abakaliki.

Even education is not left behind. Today, 204 Ebonyians are studying abroad, ffully sponsored by the state government. Tuition, accommodation, and living expenses are all taken care of. These students represent a brighter future, one that will bring international knowledge and innovation back home. This is not charity. it’s a strategic investment.

Critics may say Governor Nwifuru is “too quiet.” But in a time when many leaders seek media attention over results, Ebonyians have found comfort in a leader who lets his work speak. The roads speak. The hospitals speak. The flyovers, bridges, and scholarships all speak.

Governor Nwifuru is the only sitting governor in Nigeria who, in two years of impactful governance, has not borrowed a kobo to fund his numerous projects. That is not just remarkable, it is revolutionary. While other leaders chase headlines, he is chasing solutions. And the results are evident in every corner of the state.

Even international voices echo what we see in Ebonyi today. According to Ban Ki-moon, “Good governance requires working with integrity, transparency, and accountability, always putting the people first.” That is precisely what Governor Nwifuru represents.

As Ebonyians celebrate the second anniversary of the Peoples’ Charter of Needs administration, we are not just marking time, we are celebrating transformation. We are acknowledging a journey that has redefined what leadership looks like in Nigeria.

In conclusion, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru is not just a politician. He is a builder, a visionary, a silent achiever. The APC has delivered more than promises it has delivered performance. And Ebonyi State is now a living testimony of what focused leadership, sincere governance, and political will can achieve.

The road ahead is still long, but if the past two years are anything to go by, Ebonyi is well on the path to becoming one of Nigeria’s most prosperous and stable states. We are grateful. We are hopeful. And most of all, we are proud.
