The age grade grassroots football tournament is being played weekends at three centres within Lagos State to give most of the players who are in the schools the opportunity to concentrate on their studies.
No fewer than 64 teams registered for the competition which is being sponsored by JOF Nigeria Limited, a wholly Nigerian indigenous company.
At Lekki venue last weekend, Utility Football Club of Ilupeju beat Danladi Academy from Yaba 2-1. Ojo’s Puma FC lost 0-1 to Latoyam FC from Coker Aguda. Alaba Babes from Alaba could not withstand the firepower of Junior Arsenal from Alimosho as they fell in 0-2 game. Amezon Boys of Ikoyi beat Kola Babes from Ipaja 2-0
At Oshodi centre, Kamin Boys of Oyingbo lost 1-3 to Zamadek Babes from Lagos Island. Chelsea Boys Ketu defeated Ajiran Boys. Oron Academy of Oyingbo lost 2-1 to Omo Babes from Agbado, while Strong Dove from Orile Iganmu claimed victory over Edet Academy of Aguda 1-0 game.
More matches in the second round stage will be played this weekend for teams to get their slots for the Round of 16 as teams race against time to fight their ways to the final.
