Enterprising Samuel Wisdom opened the scoring in the 60th minute of play before Captain of the side, Noah Salaudeen, wrapped it up with a well taken penalty goal in the 72nd minute of the match played at Strong Tower Pitch, Ikorodu, Lagos.
The two sides gave a good account of themselves but it was Vinogano Boys that dominated the early stanza with their crisp passes and positional play which Buruj Boys struggled to contend with. But the at the resumption of the second half, the UK-bound boys seized the initiative to the delight of spectators who came to catch a glimpse of a youthful side that had been well trained in the art and craft of modern football.
While reacting on the outcome of the game, the CEO of Buruj Sports Academy was full of plaudits for the Vinogano Boys for giving his team something to ponder on. He also disclosed that the essence of organising friendly game is not all about the results but performance of the team both individually and collectively.
He opined that with what he saw so far, he is confident that most of the boys will be ready for the challenge of defending the English Super Cup title they won last year in Manchester as well as participating in the Welsh Super Cup in Cardiff, Wales.
The two-headed tourneys will hold between July 25 and August 4, this year.
