It was a triumphant return and a showcase of familial cohesion last Friday at the live premiere of the Season 2 of the globally acclaimed family-oriented game show, Family Feud at the Ultima Studios in Lekki, Lagos.

The live premiere of the game show had in attendance distinguished media executives and select guests for an immersive experience with the focal point of the screening party revolved around the Face-Off, Main Game, and Fast Money Rounds of the game show, featuring the Mbagwu and Adewale families.

The ambience was elevated by the accompaniment of lively music, exquisite finger food, and refreshing beverages, creating an engaging setting for guests to relish pivotal moments from the second season.

Noteworthy was the screening of the first episode, showcasing a fierce clash between the Adebayo and Olori families, culminating in an unprecedented victory for the Adebayos.

Speaking about new developments to spice up Family Feud season 2, Tunji Adebakin, Manager, Operations at Ultima Studios, said there would be a special edition for kids, and also celebrity edition in which popular names would compete to win cash prizes for any charity organisation of their choice.

“What we are doing differently in Family Feud season 2 is that there is a game we want people to play from home, while sitting down and watching the show. It is a trivia game too but what we did in season one was that only 10 people won from Monday to Friday. We have increased that with the help of Momo, MTN and our other sponsors.

We have upped it to 30 people, so we want to touch the lives of 30 Nigerians everyday. 30 people will win N5,000 everyday from Monday to Friday. What we also did not do last season is that we have added a N1 million to the trivia. So, at the end of every quarter, the fan with the highest number of points gets N1 million. Aside from the proposed kids’ edition, we are also going to have a charity edition, where celebrities will play not for themselves but for a charity organization of their choice,” he declared.

Aisha Umar, Chief Digital Officer of MTN Nigeria, took the stage to underline MTNs unwavering commitment to the success of Family Feud in its second season. She emphasised the shows alignment with MTNs core values of promoting family, community, and societal unity.

We are so vested in sponsoring Family Feud because it is a family-based game show. You have to take part in the show with members of your family, or your close circle. Weve had Family Feud: MTN Edition, and we are also planning Family Feud: Kids Edition. This is because of what we feel about family, community, and the society on a larger scale. It is important we all get along as a family, in the core unit of the family, but also as part of a larger community. MTN wants to be associated with that camaraderie of family, of a larger society.

She continued: Beyond fun and entertainment, it is about education. Nigeria is a very aspirational society, and Family Feud allows people to do that. To be part of this show, you have to educate yourself on certain things, and we like being part of that.

Show host, Bisola Aiyeola, expressed appreciation for the rare opportunity to return and helm the sophomore season. Aiyeola acknowledged the distinctive experience of collaborating with families and friends, emphasising their collective efforts in bringing the verve that defines the show.

In an innovative turn of events, guests were invited to actively participate in a special edition of the game show, organised into Team MTN and Team Momo. This interactive element injected an additional layer of excitement, fostering a sense of community among the participants.

The premiere event of Family Feud not only showcased the shows enduring popularity, but also celebrated the essence of family-centric entertainment. The events success serves as a testament to the enduring impact of Family Feud in Nigerian households.

The show will air on Fridays and Saturdays on DStv and GOtv by 9 pm. There would be repeat broadcasts on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

on air since November of the preceding year,
