Joy and cultural pride continue to sweep across Ogbunike as prominent voices from all quarters celebrate the conferment of the revered title “Eze Odinana of Ogbunike” on Ichie Dr. Chuma-Odili Harris Udokamma, popularly known as Ogene Ogbunike.

Among the most heartfelt commendations came from the Chairlady of the United Umuada Ogbunike, Iyom Mrs. Ogechukwu Ezika, who joined in honouring the cultural icon with a powerful congratulatory message.

Iyom Ezika said, “We, the United Umuada Ogbunike, wholeheartedly congratulate Ichie Dr. Chuma-Odili, our own Ogene Ogbunike, on this noble and spiritually significant recognition as Eze Odinana. His elevation is a reflection of his deep love for Ogbunike, his loyalty to our customs, and his dedication to the preservation of our sacred heritage”.

She further emphasized that Ogene Ogbunike’s recognition goes beyond ceremonial glory, highlighting its symbolism in the fight for cultural dignity, spiritual self-awareness, and the rightful place of indigenous wisdom in modern society.

“He has shown us that embracing our roots is not backwardness but power. The Umuada of Ogbunike are proud to stand beside him as he continues to champion the revival of Odinana. His voice echoes not just in shrines and festivals, but in the hearts of every woman who believes in identity, pride, and legacy” she said.

The Umuada Ogbunike—a respected body of women of virtue, mothers, and community leaders—has been instrumental in preserving peace, values, and traditional harmony across the six villages of the town. Their endorsement of the new Eze Odinana marks a significant alignment of moral authority with cultural recognition.

The honour, conferred by Otu Odinana Ogbunike during the Nwafor Festival 2025, has become a symbol of cultural renaissance in Ogbunike, sparking renewed interest in indigenous spirituality and ancestral respect.

As Ogene Ogbunike continues his journey as the Custodian of Culture and Indigenous Spirituality, the women of Ogbunike have affirmed their support, praying for his strength and success in this sacred responsibility.

“Ogene is not walking alone. The daughters of Ogbunike are with him, and we shall continue to uphold our heritage side by side” Iyom concluded.
