CYRIACUS IZUEKWE

An undergraduate of Caleb University, Ahmed Hassan has been arrested with the Nigerian military uniform which he used to smuggle hard drugs into the campus for the students in Lagos.

The 27-year old Hassan confessed that he borrowed the uniform from his friend who he identified as Rufai, who was still a serving army officer with Battalion 174, Ikorodu Military Command.

The Kaduna State-born Hassan said that he collected the uniform as a camouflage in order to intimidate people and carry his illegal activities within and outside the campus before he was arrested.

However, Hassan activities came to an end when he wore the uniform and was accosted by a police detective who interrogated him and discovered that he was not an army officer but was using the uniform for criminal activities.

Hassan was arrested, detained and paraded by the Commissioner of the Police, CP Imohimi Edgal at the Police Command, Ikeja, Lagos.

While parading Hassan with other suspects, Edgal said he was involved in criminal activities and used the military uniform to impersonate and carry out those activities until he was caught. The police boss said that the suspect will soon be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigations.

Hassan was among the suspected criminals paraded by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal. Also paraded alongside Hassan were suspected armed robbers, human traffickers, kidnappers, vehicle snatchers, among others. The police also recovered pistols, short guns, live ammunitions etc, which were displayed and kept as exhibits by the police.

Edgal thanked the public for their cooperation with the police and said that it was such good cooperation that led to the arrest of the suspects. He assured that the police will continue to do their best to ensure the protection of lives and properties in the state.
