Understanding The Man Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo

Very often many have asked, why is Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo interested in politics? Isn’t it better that he continues with his business and avoid the murky water of Nigerian politics? My answer has always being, what will become of Anambra State if good men do nothing and continue to watch from the sidelines?

For Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo, politics has never been his aim. All his life he has sought how to make things better for the greater good of all. Those who knew him while he was at Onitsha still testify of his struggle to liberate Onitsha traders from the stranglehold of extortionists who didn’t want others to excel. At the risk of losing his life he fought them tenaciously, hence liberated other traders from their control setting off a new chain of prosperity for many others.

Once, I had casually mentioned the name Overdose, an alias of Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo during a discussion and the person whom I was with, a student of the Oko polytechnic began to mention and narrate how Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo has been making the lives of students of the polytechnic and others around him worth living yearly through different interventionist policies. Not only students but different entrepreneurs who have had Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo to thank for being the Angel investor who provided the necessary funds they utilized in starting up and expanding their businesses and numerous others who praise him for providing the roof over their heads.

Recently, Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo in other to make the lives of those in his immediate community better constructed over 5km road in a location that has been inaccessible for long and which movement had become difficult for residents. In all these, Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo has never been an employee of the government nor a government contractor. He has been doing good ‘ because it is good to be good’.

To replicate what he has been doing in his personal capacity in a large scale, Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo needs the instrument of government. This is why he is in the race to become the Governor of Anambra state in 2022. This is why he has rolled up his sleeves and left the comfort of his business empire. Only well thought out economic policies can ensure that millions of people are taken off poverty in a swoop. Only a well measured economic action can ensure that infrastructure depravation in Anambra is stopped. No matter how much we do this as individuals, it only amounts to a droplet in an ocean. To make an impact, the instrument of government is needed.

This is why Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo is in the race; to use the instrument of government to replicate what he has been doing in his personal capacity for over 30 years- building infrastructure, supporting entrepreneurs and businesses, providing affordable housing for all, providing qualitative and quantitative healthcare system- by creating policies that will make millions of Ndi Anambra prosperous while creating infrastructures that will cater for all our needs.
