Proprietress of Viscum Private School, Chief (Mrs.) Sunmisola  Adefuye has called on Lagos State Sports Commission  to create enabling environment for private schools to organize their annual inter house sports.

She said this at the 13th edition of the school’s inter house sports competition held last Friday at the school’s premises at Omole Phase II, Ikeja, Lagos.

Adefuye said inter house sports competition is an avenue for students to discover their talents. She noted that many private schools ignore sports activities because of lack of space and sports facilities to engage their students.

She said  that only few private schools that have space and sports facilities could organize inter house sports annually. She called on the government to give their venues and sports facilities free for private schools to use them for their sporting activities.

“We cannot take away sports completely from our children. Sports and education go together because our children can only physically and mentally fit if they engage in sport activities. We organize this inter house sports competition every year so as to make our students fit and not all the time they will be studying.

“For other private school owners who don’t have space or facilities to engage their children. I am using this medium to appeal to government to  release their venues in the state to be used for inter house sports because there are many private schools who don’t have space to organize school sports activities,” she said.

Commenting on the school inter house sports, Adefuye expressed gratitude to God for the success of the competition and congratulated all the participating houses for their job well done.

In her own remark, Principal of the College, Mrs Agnes Agbo said she was impressed with the standard of this year’s edition noted that all the houses gave their best.

In the results released, Pink House emerged overall winner with 12 gold, 10, silver and 8 bronze, Green house occupied second position with 11 gold, 8 silver and 8 bronze, while Red placed third with 6 gold, 2, silver and 3 bronze.
