The campaign office of the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, PhD, said that it has come to their notice the existence of a voice message purporting that the Senator was working against the Presidential ambition of the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi.

In a statement signed by Kingsley Ubani, SA Media to Senator Uche Ekwunife, the campaign office said, “For the avoidance of doubt and to set the records straight, we wish state categorically that the voice message is fake and obviously the handiwork of political detractors”.

“The said voice message from a mysterious source is a clear attempt by detractors to create bad blood between the federal lawmaker and Obi who is a frontrunner in the presidential contest under the Peoples Democratic Party.”
“Ekwunife is undoubtedly one of Mr Peter Obi’s strongest supporters in Nigeria today. On many occasions, she has told  Nigerians and indeed anyone who cares to listen that Obi is the best aspirant under the PDP for the position of President.”

“Needless to say that if it was Senator Ekwunife’s call to decide who becomes the next Presidential candidate of the PDP, there is no second guessing that she will choose Obi – a man she has consistently described as Anambra’s number one export to the world.”

“We therefore, advise the general public to disregard the audio in circulation which is from Senator Ekwunife’s detractors. In the past we have witnessed such malicious acts designed to distract her from the good work she is doing in Anambra State and to create bad blood between her and major stakeholders in the party.”

“Meanwhile, Senator Ekwunife uses this opportunity to once again appeal to PDP National delegates across the country, particularly those from Anambra State, to support Obi’s aspiration to become the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the 2023 Presidential election.”
