When Soludo was invited to fix the then ailing Nigeria’s economy, nothing stops him from doing the conventional, the generic, if you like. Probably, fixing just the Nation’s data collection apparatus would have been the hallmark for some people. Having set up the country’s National Bureau of Statistics, many would recline, take a bow and set the tone for self aggrandizement.
This is not to be Soludo’s style. The Isuofia Homeboy continued to projectively design a wholesome financial system with implications for macro economic developments that still present positive spinoffs for the Nation’s continued development.
Soludo came with over a dozen other solutions that touched other critical areas of our economy. For instance;
>> the transition from analogue to digital banking.
>> From 89 rickety banks to 25 strong and viable banks
>> From reduced depositors confidence to improved depositors trust.
>> From 10billion foreign reserve to 65billion foreign reserve
>> From double digit inflation rate to a single digit inflation rate for 5years uninterrupted.
>> From failed bank syndrome to successful banks with multinational interests spanning various countries and continents.
>> From poor funding for portfolio investments to massive capital glut for huge investors and MSMEs
>> From huge debt burden to an all time historical debt relief
>> From less than a 200 bank branches to over 500 scattered across the country and the world
Moving round the towns and villages of Anambra with the message of Soludo greets one with a certain kind of surprise that brings you to the realisation of the various sources of organic support base that has taken an independent existence across the State. There is a growing mass of loyalists whose conviction is premised on the indelible footprints of Soludo on the sands of our hitherto fragile financial system. Wouldn’t you rather seek Solution?
For a Greater Anambra, think SOLUDO!
