Waliu Lands In Trouble For Hiring Soldier To Settle Scores With Rival

A 27-year old man, Fatai Waliu who reportedly went to the military barracks in Lagos and hired a soldier simply known as Akin to settle scores with his rival on the street has landed in trouble.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the unknown soldier he had hired went beyond the bounds, battered and inflicted serious injuries on the victim, Mr. Shola Adebowale. He was rushed to a hospital where doctors were battling to save his life.

The incident happened at Oduduwa Street in Mushin, Lagos where they resided.

It was scooped that Waliu and Adebowale were well known rivals in the area and always had quarrels in the street over undisclosed matters. The residents had tried to resolved the matter to no avail because the parties involved were not willing to settle.

On the day the incident happened, it was learnt that Waliu and Adebowale had a disagreement which prompted Waliu to contact the soldier and brought him to the area to deal with Adebowale. It was learnt that Adebowale was ambushed on the street by the soldier who attacked and almost killed Adebowale before the soldier escaped back to the barrack.

The matter was reported to the police at Olosun Division while Adebowale was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment. The police arrested Waliu and asked him to provide the soldier he had hired to attack the victim, but he claimed that he did not know how to get him because he only hired him.

Since he was unable to provide the soldier, the police charged him to court and he was brought before Ogba Magistrates court for conduct likely to cause breach of peace and assault.

He pleaded not guilty.

Thereafter, the prosecutor, E. Edet asked the court for a short adjournment for the trial of the defendant in the interest of justice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. O.A. Layinka granted Waliu bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
However, the defendant was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 3 May, 2018.
