Indeed there was jubilation in Itire area of Lagos and its environs after
the 22-year old supreme cult leader, Maliki Bello, was arrested by the Police
operatives led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Maliki Bello, who hails from Lalopun in Kwara State and resides at 23 Ayinla Street in Idiaraba area of Mushin, Lagos, and 11 other members of his gang are currently in Police net.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, during the parade of suspects at the State Police Command in Ikeja, Lagos.
He stated that on 4th February, 2020, following
sustained monitoring, the Police operatives at Itire Division arrested
Bello with operational base at Itire area of Lagos. He explained
that the suspect, Maliki Bello, had been on the wanted list of the Police
for violent crimes and gang clashes.
DSP Elkana said that the suspect has confessed to be responsible for series of
violent attacks, murders and armed robbery incident in Idiaraba, Lawanson, Dosumu,
Ashimowo Bakare, Mushin, Itire among others.
Elkana said that Bello revealed that he was initiated into the cult when he was
12 and he rose to become the leader of the cult. He said that the gang has
official Facebook page known as BBL Baloteli with 1,928 friends and they use their
Facebook page and other social media accounts to recruit new members, plan
attacks and update members on their activities.
The Police spokesman said through interrogation and investigation other members
of the gang were arrested and will be charged to Court after the conclusion of
investigations.
