There was wild jubilation in Mushin area of Lagos after Police operatives from Olosan Division led by SP Ayodele Arogbo, arrested the most wanted leader of the notorious criminal group known as ‘No Salary Boys’, one Kareem Sodiq, popularly known as Inspector during a party celebration.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Inspector had been on the Police wanted list for the past two years until he was recently tracked while partying at Alafia Street, Mushin area of Lagos.
The 21-year old Inspector had been perceived in Mushin and its environs to be invincible but the mystery ended after the DPO, SP Ayodele Arogbo, led a police team that tracked, destroyed his charms and arrested him.
His second in command, identified as Bola, was said to have escaped and now at large but the Police were said to be on his trail and hope to arrest him soon.
It was gathered that Inspector and his second in command, Bola, mobilized, initiated young boys and formed the ‘No Salary’ gang and began to terrorise the streets in Mushin and its environs before he ran out of luck.
Some of the streets, where the gang were said to have reigned supreme before they were arrested included: Ilasa, Sadiku, Cappa, Morgan, Idiaraba and other areas within Mushin and its environs.
They were said to move in hundreds when they attack and dispose people of their properties both day and night with impunity including destruction of vehicle on the streets.
However, the violence suddenly disappeared in the area after the Police arrested Inspector and his second in command, Bosa, fled including other members of the gang, who scattered to other areas.
According to residents, Inspector was arrested at Alafia area of Mushin during operation at party. He was said to have gone there to cause violence and rob unknown to him and the gang that the Police were ready for them.
It was gathered that the Police arrested Inspector with charms and dangerous weapons as exhibits, which the DPP’s report stated that he had a case to answer.
He was charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy, causing violence with dangerous weapons and other felony related offences as was presented by the prosecutor, Mr. A Koti, before the Court.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.I. Tanimola, ordered him to be remanded in prison custody pending the outcome of DPP’s report.
P.M.EXPRESS confirmed that the DPP’s report found him culpable and recommended that he should be tried for the offences the Police alleged that he committed.
The matter was adjourned till 13th November, 2019, when the Court will determine whether to transfer the matter to the High Court.
