A suspect, Ugbo Onunwa who  broke Isheri Oshun Police Division’s roof and escaped while the officers were asleep in Lagos may be regretting his action by attempting to escape from prison too.

The police later re-arrested and charged him before a Lagos  court and he was remanded in prison custody.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that while he was taken to the prison, he attempted to escape just as he did at the police station but tasted a bitter pill from the prison officers.

He was caught and battered to a pulp by prison officials to the extent that he could not walk, talk less of making such move again. So he could not be brought to court to face trial.

When the matter came up at the court, he was absent as the prison officers told the court that he was indisposed to stand trial.

According to one of his relations, his condition was critical as such, he may not come out from the prison alive as a result of injuries he received.

P.M.EXPRESS had reported that his escape caused serious embarrassment to the Nigerian Police especially the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, CSP Camellius Emordi who tried everything possible to arrest him.

He was arrested and brought before Isolo Magistrates court for escape and willful damage of the station’s roof under the Criminal Code.

He pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mr A.O. Ogbe granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.

The matter was adjourned till 18th of September 2017.

It was while he was being taken to prison that he made another attempt to escape from there.
