It was a nasty experience for Police officers attached to  Dopemu Division of the Lagos State Command after they arrested a 25-year old man, Dauda Oni, who mounted road block on the highway and forcefully extorted money from motorists as he told the Police that they learnt the act from them.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the alleged statement caused serious embarrassment to the Police team, who went for a rescue mission as they immediately arrested him for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and and extortion.
The incident happened at Monica Road in Mangoro, Dopemu area of Agege, where Oni and others at large allegedly mounted a road block and were forcefully extorting money from motorists.
Trouble was said to have started after Oni and his gang attacked a victim, Abiodun Shittu, stabbed him on the stomach and leg with a knife, stole his phone and he reported the attack to the Police.
The Police then went to the scene and arrested Oni, who initially resisted and told the team to their faces that he was not afraid because they learnt the work from them.
After interrogation, the Police charged Oni before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Dada Waisu, then asked the the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.O. Fagbohun, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The matter was adjourned for mention while he was remanded in correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail  conditions while the Police were said to have intensified efforts to arrest his accomplices, who were said to be at large.
