Who Wears The Crown? As GLO-CAF Awards Holds In Abuja Thursday

The Glo- CAF awards holds Thursday’s night in the Nigerian capital city of Abuja, and the question on the lips of all football loving Africans is: who wears the crown?

The last three men standing include the incumbent, Gabonese, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Borussia Dortmund, Riyad Mahrez, the Leicester City of England and Algeria player and Senegal and Liverpool midfielder, Sadio Mane.

The undisputed king of football in Africa for 2016 will emerge Thursday’s night at the International Conference Centre, Abuja where the Confederation of African Football and West Africa’s leading Telecommunication Company, Globacom hosts the Silver edition of Glo-Caf Awards.

Abuja is already agog with activities leading to the Awards gala. Top sports administrators , special guests and government functionaries from different parts of Africa and beyond have converged in Abuja for the ceremony.

The President of Confederation of African Football, CAF, Mr. Isa Hayatou and his delegation have already arrived Abuja for the event which will be covered by global media. All the three top nominees for African player of the year award have already confirmed their attendance. Similarly, all the nominees in other categories are delighted to be rated among the best footballers in the continent.

An annual event, the Glo-CAF Awards celebrates African footballers, coaches and administrators who have distinguished themselves in the game either on the African Continent, or abroad.

About two weeks ago, CAF pruned down the final list to three players for the awards.

The categories also include African Player of The Year (Based in Africa), National Team of The Year, Club of The Year, and Coach of The Year.

Other categories are Women’s National Team of The Year, Women’s Footballer of The Year, Most Promising Talent, Referee of The Year, Legend of The year, Fair Play Award, Platinum Award (which has only one nominee), and Africa Finest XI.
