The Media Director of Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji Campaign Organisation, Comrade Uloka Chuks, has raised alarm over alleged plots to distort APGA Gubernatorial primaries by some power drunk political actors, who are hell bent on imposing a candidate on the party. He called on the leadership of APGA to be vigilant and responsive to her duties and halt every attempt being made by overzealous and power drunk individuals in the party to foist their stooge and choice candidate on the party ahead of the June primaries.

According to Comrade Uloka Chuks, who spoke through a telephone conversation with our correspondent in Awka, said, “Some opportunistic politicians who have continued to flex their power on the people of the State and APGA party members have dubiously devised a new plan to short change the forthcoming APGA Primary election in order for them to foist a candidate on the party faithfuls under the pretense that he is the choice candidate of the Governor; tissue of lies”.

“The continuous rape and molestation of truism by these power drunks that the Executive Governor of Anambra State, HE, Chief Dr. Willie Mmaduaburochukwu Obiano, has handpicked a successor through his body language should be disregarded by well-meaning individuals and party faithfuls, the Governor is a gentleman, a party man, a great leader and team player who understands perfectly the tenets of democracy, they are rather trying to rope his good heart and benevolence into their inordinate ambition which won’t fly for any reason.”

According to Uloka, he said emerging reports have indicated that these power drunk individuals in the APGA party have already concluded plans to hire machineries from neighbouring Kogi, Ebonyi and members of U-Aya & U-Awa to have them shortlisted as possible delegates for the forthcoming APGA primaries, where they would act according to the script handed over to them and deny the original party members their right of electing their choice candidate for the November 6, Guber elections in the State.

Uloka described the plot as not only a slap on the integrity of the party, but unhealthy and a brazen attempt to subvert the democratic right and will of party faithfuls.

“We know these people and what their plans are, they do not have any good interest and intentions for the State and the party, rather to satisfy their self-serving and inordinate desire.”

“They have been running from pillar to post since the rejection of their plot to have their Godson emerge the consensus candidate of APGA, members of the party have already shut that out on the grounds that it is unconstitutional, undemocratic and against what APGA represents;

“APGA will neither accept nor tolerate any attempt to impose a candidate on the people without going through the democratic process, as any attempt to do so will be resisted with every option available to the original members of APGA.”

“The beauty of democracy is to accord the people their right to elect candidates of their choice and not for some people somewhere to narrow their choices to the party just to suit their whims and caprices”, Uloka said.

He further added that the APGA party has never been united the way it is at present to fight and resist every attempt capable of de-marketing the party in the forthcoming Guber election in the State.

The leadership of the party must therefore, step up and take charge to ensure transparency and credibility so the confidence reposed on them would not be in doubt.

He added that it is in the interest of democracy and the party for known delegates to pick a candidate for the party ahead of the November governorship election, it will avail the candidate the opportunity to test their popularity, acceptance and merit for the position, noting that imposition will spell doom for the party as it is undemocratic.

“The delegates must be party men and women who have stakes, clear and visible identity and not some group of unscrupulous elements somewhere; we will fight and resist it in entirety” he concluded.
