A 23-year old suspect, Sunday Tobilola arrested for breaking into another man’s premises has revealed that he had been living with the owner in the same house but did not steal any of his properties.
The incident happened at Ajetumobi Street in Abaranje area of Ikotun at the premises of one Aremu Funsho who caught Tobilola in his premises early in the morning.
The suspect said that he was unable to rent any house and so he decided to be sleeping at the premises without telling the owner who also resided in the same compound. He said he had lived there for quite sometime and had never attacked the owner and his family because he considered the house as his own house too.
Tobilola said he usually sneaked into the premises at night and left early without disturbing the owner. He said he knew every activities going on in the compound but had never contemplated stealing any of their properties since he started living there.
P.M.EXPRESS confirmed from the police source that the complainant did not state that Tobilola attacked or stole any of his properties when he was caught on 8th April, 2018 at the premises.
The suspect was caught and handed over to the police at Ikotun Division for breaking into the premises and was later charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates court for the alleged offence.
He pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.O. Shomade granted Tobilola bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The prosecutor, Supol Keneth Asibor did not object his bail condition.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter has been adjourned till 7 May, 2018.
