The semi-finals of the ongoing Winners Golden Bet sponsored Lagos State Challenge Cup were played on Wednesday with the defending champions, Smart City FC received the beating of their life from Vandrezzer FC, a second-tier division, Nigeria National League (NNL) team, in a scoreline that kept bookmakers scratching their heads hours after the encounter.
Coached by Andrew Uwe, Vandrezzer showed their supremacy over Smart FC with a resounding victory of 6-2, while Box To Box played a 2-2 draw with Gbagada FC and ran away with victory in the penalty shootouts that ended 6-5.
The semi-final ties, which was played inside the main bowl of the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere was witnessed by the Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Sola Aiyepeku, the Director-General of the Commission, Toyin Gafaar, Chairman of Lagos State Football Association, Seyi Akinwunmi, Lagos FA Board member, Mojeed Adegbindin, renowned sports journalist Godwin Enarkhena among other top dignitaries.
