When Soludo says the “future we seek is in our past”, it is a statement borne out of deep introspection. A soul searching of where we were and the current state of dim-fatedness, where all that matters to many of our young people is “reward” not “effort”.
Soludo’s meeting with this Anambra born “global inspiration” today – Ms. Chimamanda Adichie — brings back so much in values and the potency of qualitative Education. To create globally competitive individuals, we must, of necessity, begin the process of redesigning our education curriculum. This is the first step to solving “unemployability”, and building socially stable, locally relevant and exportable individuals from Anambra to the world – this is part of Soludo’s proposition.
Soludo commiserated with Ms. Adichie on the twin tragedy of losing a Father and a Mother in such a quick succession. The deceased couple were part of Anambra’s reputable human resources and would be greatly missed too. Fortunately, they have bequeathed the world with such a majestic literatus, whose efforts are already shaping global trends and discussions.
That’s the Anambra-spirit, that must resurge.
