Paul Ikonne has once again embarrassed himself by talking about governance in Abia. This is the same man who wasted his chance as NALDA boss and became a laughing stock across Nigeria for distributing rabbits as empowerment. Till today, Nigerians only remember him as “Mr Rabbit,” a man who could not think beyond cages and grass. That is his only legacy.
Now this same failure wants to attack Dr Alex Otti, OFR, a Governor who is turning Abia around after years of destruction caused by Ikonne and his greedy gang. What exactly gives Ikonne the confidence to talk? Where was his wisdom when Abia was a burial ground of failed projects, empty promises, and looted pensions? He was feeding fat while workers starved. Today, with a Governor who runs Abia with transparency and fear of God, Ikonne suddenly remembers the plight of workers. That is hypocrisy at its peak.
Ikonne should stop pretending to care about Abia people. Everybody knows he never worked for the interest of ordinary citizens. His entire career is a string of failures. He could not win elections, he could not perform in office, and he has no single achievement except the disgrace of rabbit empowerment. That is why politics has forgotten him.
Meanwhile, Governor Alex Otti is rewriting the ugly story Ikonne and his co-travelers left behind. Roads are being built across Abia. Hospitals and schools are being revived. Salaries and pensions are being paid promptly. Investors are beginning to take Abia seriously again. Ndi Abia can see the change with their eyes and feel it daily. That is why they laugh at expired politicians like Ikonne who survive only on propaganda and lies.
If Ikonne is desperate for relevance, let him go back and contest for chairman of rabbit farmers association in Imo. Abia has moved far beyond his level. His attack on the New Abia is dead on arrival, the desperate cry of a forgotten failure.
The truth is simple. The New Abia is real. Governor Alex Otti is delivering it. Ikonne remains nothing more than a rejected politician begging to be remembered. Ndi Abia have moved on.
