The much awaited closing ceremony of Embassy Football Competition holds on Saturday at White Sand mini Stadium, Orile- Iganmu, Lagos.
In the U- 17 male category, Gasfat FC will confront Semiu Boys FC, while Phoenix Queens battle Gasfat Queens in the female category.
The Chairman Organising Committee, Prince Ganiu Adetunji said the tourney was put together to engage the clubs around Orile and its environs to keep their players fit ahead of next year’s Lagos State Challenge Cup.
Commenting on the tournament, Prince Adetunji said he was impressed with the standard of play by the participating clubs and officiating. He however urged football fans to desist from vices that can ruin the competition.
“We are all set for the final. We thank the fans who came out in their numbers to add glamour to the competition because without them, our tournament would not attract football scouts and coaches from various places. Let me use this medium to advise fans to comport themselves and stay away from trouble during and after the closing ceremony,” he said.
In his own comment, Manager, Embassy International Hotel, Mr Sunday Adewara who doubles as the cup donor expressed gratitude to God for the hitch free tournament. He explained that the competition had lived up to expectations in terms of organization, publicity, standard of play by participating teams and officiating
“ I am happy that the competition started well and we are all looking for the final ceremony which will decide the winners of the tournament. I want to assure all the finalists that prize money and trophy would be given to the winners and first runner- up. Even the outstanding players would go home with gift items. I wish all the finalists best of luck in their outings,” he said.
