The Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 2019 elections, Mr. Peter Obi, has stated that he plans to celebrate his 60th birthday for a full year because he has mapped out humanitarian projects across the country that will run through the year.
Obi made this revelation when he took his 60th birthday celebration to Iyienu Mission Hospital, Ogidi, where he made a donation of N2 million to them. He reinstated  his commitment to a better society noting that no society will progress without a stable health sector.

“You see, my plan is to celebrate my birthday for a full year by visiting hospitals and schools in communities that need help. We cannot expect much development in our nation, unless we aggressively invest in our education and health sectors, and combat poverty by supporting our youths into productive business ventures.”

“I have a couple of friends and donors who have keyed into my vision and are willing to join me to make it happen. I have also mapped out schools and hospitals that we will visit and donate to through the year. We are at Iyienu Mission Hospital, Ogidi, today. It’s not our first time here and it will not be our last. Life is all about giving back to society what God has blessed you with.” Obi explained.

Handing over the cheque of N2 million to the Anglican Bishop on the Niger and Proprietor of the Hospital, Rt Rev’d Dr Owen Nwokolo, who was represented by the Chief Medical Director, Rev Tochukwu Okwuchukwu, Obi urged them to continue to advance the cause of humanity through improved healthcare delivery to society.

Appreciating Obi and his entourage, on behalf of the Bishop and the Management Board of the hospital, Rev Okwuchukwu thanked Obi for his relentless efforts towards the betterment of humanity and for always striving to make life better for the under-privileged. He promised that the hospital will make judicious use of the money donated by Obi to improve healthcare delivery.

Obi was accompanied by his Former Chief of Staff and Former Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Prof Stella Chinyere Okunna, and the Former Commissioner for Housing Anambra State, Dr Patrick Nky Obi.
