Mahmud Sadis Buba, a 30-year-old popular person living with disability (PWD), has withdrawn from the race for the Sabon Gari federal constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, Buba said his withdrawal takes immediate effect.

The former aspirant said the decision followed reconciliation efforts initiated by leaders and stakeholders of the party.

“This was not an easy decision. But it was hastened by the reconciliation efforts initiated by stakeholders and leaders of our party,” he said.

Buba said he reached the decision after consultations with his family, political associates, and party stakeholders.

He added that uniting behind a single candidate was necessary for the party’s success in the general election.

“I believe that uniting behind a single candidate is paramount to our victory in the general election and for the continued progress of our constituency and state,” he said.

The former aspirant thanked Senator Uba Sani, the State governor, and the Kaduna APC leadership for the opportunity to participate in the nomination process.

“The experience has been enriching, and I am grateful for the immense support from my constituents and supporters throughout this journey,” he said.

Buba reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and pledged support for the party’s eventual candidate.

“My withdrawal is not a sign of weakness, but a sacrifice for the greater good of the party,” he said.

“I assure you that I remain a faithful party member and I am committed to working tirelessly to ensure the victory of the party’s consensus candidate and the party at large at the polls.”

He also appealed to his supporters to remain calm and support the party’s decision.

“I ask my supporters to remain calm, united, and to throw their full weight behind the party’s decision and whoever emerges as the party’s candidate,” he said.

Buba, popularly known as Abin Al-Ajabin Zazzau, had attracted attention after passing the APC screening process for the Sabon Gari federal constituency seat.

His candidacy also sparked controversy over allegations of age falsification following conflicting details contained in documents circulated online, although no official sanction or indictment was issued by the party over the claims.

Buba was seeking to unseat Sadiq Ango Abdullahi, who won the seat in 2023 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before defecting to the APC.
