CHUKA UBAH

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State has finally sacked the factional President of Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos State, Chief Sunday Udeh, for constituting nuisance over his recent comments on Ezendigbo in Lagos State.
The President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, bared his mind on his sack, his achievements and other issues on the state of Ohanaeze in Lagos State.
On why Chief Sunday Udeh was sacked by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, he said, “As the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, Chief Sunday Udeh has been sacked for constituting nuisance in Lagos State by his irresponsible and unguided comments against Ndigbo traditional stool, which would have caused crisis in Lagos State among the Igbo but I quickly intervened to calm down the situation. By the decision,  Udeh will not attend any Ohanaeze Ndigbo meeting in Lagos State. Already the Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos State has  disowned him as well as the Igbo Council of Elders led by Chief Oliver Akubueze, which sacked him over his unguided comments by cancelling Ezendigbo crowned by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State.
Is Chief Sunday Udeh among the Igbo leaders in Lagos State?
He is only the factional President of Igbo Speaking Community, which are insignificant because his membership doesn’t cut across the Wards, Local Council Areas and State like that of his opponents, Chief Cyril Sunday Eze, who has majority among their members. Their matter is still in Court unlike me who have subsisting Court judgment in my favour as authentic Ohanaeze Ndigbo President Lagos State.
However, I feel for some people for their inability to decipher Sunday Udeh’s character. The most infernal is that Ndigbo name is attached when he is addressed as President. Calling Sunday Udeh President is misnomer. Anyway, a dog can be named George Bush or Ronald Reagan, but it still remains a dog both in nature and character. So, for Sunday Udeh to be addressed as such has not changed who he is; a man of infinitesimal capacity and aptitude with inordinate ambition and lacks the character and skill that justifies it. May be I will appeal to Ndigbo to collapse all the sundry associations into a mega association to give Sunday Udeh position as provost in order to satisfy his hunger for leadership, since as a factional leader of small association he is not contented but opts to wear oversize shoes since he is hungry to be a leader.
I was amused when Udeh went on social media countering me as the authentic President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State due to ignorance and envy for what I have achieved as President of Ohanaeze, which many Igbo address me with various appellations in appreciation of charismatic leadership such as magician, Udochia Ndigbo, Ekpere Chukwu Zara Ndigbo etc. Ohanaeze members are happy with my adminstration making Ohanaeze Lagos more famous more than Ohanaeze across all the States in Nigeria due to success story.
My administration brought Ndigbo to the corridors of the Lagos State Government. I set up the first empowerment committee for the Igbo widows and gave N100,000 each to Igbo widows in Lagos in an empowerment drive totaling N10m.
I recalled that some traders approached me to buy the palliative items given by Lagos State Government at the cost of over N50m but I turned the offer down because it was given for Ndigbo in Lagos and not for me to enrich myself. Other leaders like Sunday Udeh will quickly succumb to such offers at the expense of Ndigbo. I, Chief Solomon Aguene Ogbonna, will never do it no matter the pressure.
On the allegation by Udeh that he crowned 13 Ezendigbo from Ebony State:
Yes, I did so because there were over 60 Ezendigbo in Lagos, no single person from Ebonyi State and in my capacity as Ohanaeze President, I addressed it for the sake of fairness and equity. The process was transparent because I approached all the Ezendigbo in Lagos and asked for their approval for Ezeship of Ebonyi extraction and they agreed and those qualified were crowned Ezendigbo based on capacity, integrity, financial buoyancy and love for Ndigbo and cultural heritage.
Aguene stated that he has provided leadership for Ndigbo even to protect lands in Lagos purchased by Igbo people that were subjects of contentions by land grabbers using his capacity as apex Igbo leader to resolve the dispute using his contacts and connection to the Lagos Governor, the Obas and Baales.
How My Achievements Started:
“One of my initial assignments when I took over office in 2018 was a courtesy visit to the Oba of Lagos with a master piece of art work representing Nwa Ada Ndigbo carved with wood by an artist called Nwadike. The art work was carved in 1979. That art work costs millions of Naira. I had thought that I could use my trade as an art collector, precisely one of Africa’s highest art collector, to add value to my Presidency. So, I gave my private master piece art works to those personalities to draw their attentions to Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State.
I was accompanied in my visit to Oba of Lagos by Ebitu Ukiwe, one time Deputy to Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, Military Head of State, and late Prof George Obiozor, immediate President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and some members of my executives. The objective of the visit was to reconcile Ndigbo in Lagos with the Oba of Lagos over his statement during the 2015 election against Ndigbo in support of Ambode candidacy against Jimi Agbaje in the gubernatorial elections in Lagos State.
As part of my success story, I shared three hundred and fifty  standing fans to members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos in 2022, each of fan cost Twelve thousand, five hundred Naira.
Under my watch Ohanaeze Ndigbo started receiving monetary allocation from the Lagos State Government, which was unprecedented since the inception of the organization. It was my personal contacts to the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu that made it possible.
Mr. Governor was introduced to me by my brother and friend, High Chief Dr Ifeanyi Odi, and on account of his influence, we the executives honoured him with Grand Patron of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos. The young man, Ifeanyi Odi, has invested millions of Naira into Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos in order to ensure that my administration succeeds. It is sad my success story in Ohanaeze has elicited jealousy, envy and unhealthy rivalry.
Sunday Udeh is non starter in Igbo leadership. It is a known fact that Igbo Speaking Community is a club registered by a few people, which their Chairman Board of Trustees, Chief Nnaji, who had one time described Sunday Udeh as an imbecile, who has no capacity to lead Igbo Speaking Community. Igbo Speaking  Community headquarter ends up in one store in Anomneze’s house at Okunola Ajayi, Street, Surulere Lagos.
My last question to Sunday Udeh and his acolytes that move  from one begging point to other, who signed the agreement that Igbo Speaking is the only body empowered with the authority to crown Ezendigbo outside Igbo land: Is it Dr Nnamdi Azikìwe or the founder of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr Francis Akanu Ibiam, Chief R.B.K Okafor or our great grand fathers in the grave that gave Igbo Speaking Community the authority?
Speaking further of my achievements in Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the first secretariat for Ohanaeze Lagos was in the regime. My leadership in Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos has touched lives and every responsible Igbo man can attest to. The wisdom to navigate hiccups and personal sacrifices to elevate the sociocultural organization coupled with the grace of God upon my life are palpable. Sunday Udeh’s envy for me and the Ezes crowned by Ohanaeze is of no consequences. I affirm again that I am the authentic President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos with a valid Court judgement, which will see me through in the next  three years. Gov Hope Uzodimma alleged supplanting of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha will probably enlighten pessimists and cynics on the power of Court pronouncement. Also Dr Chris Ngige and Peter Obi of Anambra State, Gov Ademola Adeleke and Gov Oyetola of Osun State are all cases where Court judgements determined who should be governor. Why then should my case be different with a subsisting Court judgment to remain as Ohanaeze President till 2026. Sunday Udeh and his co-travellers, who are calling former President are being deliberately mischievous. LP and PDP are seeking Court prayers to ascend to seat power in lieu of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, declared by INEC. Are you saying the pronouncements by the Court on election will be jettisoned by the litigants and defenders. It is only a fool that puts his hand on fire without accessing the risk. Any other person parading himself as President of Ohanaeze is taking risk and could he charged for contempt of the Court judgement. And the consequence is like death which you don’t know it will come.
