Why We Killed Sound Engineer & Burnt His Corpse – Suspects

Motorcycle operators a. k. a Okada riders, who murdered and burnt the corpse of sound Engineer, Sunday David, have admitted to have done so because he argued with them during a disagreement between their colleague and passengers in Lagos State. 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Lagos State Police Command on Friday paraded the alleged killers of the late Sunday David, which the unfortunate incident happened on Thursday, May 12, 2022, in Lekki, Lagos State.

The suspects were paraded at the Command’s Headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos among other suspected criminal elements arrested across the state for various crimes. 

The Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, while parading the suspects said six suspects linked with the murder were undergoing interrogation over the conduct, which were mainly okada riders.

The arrested suspects included; Dahiru Ayuba ‘m’, Susan Moses ‘f’, Christopher Dauda ‘m’, Joseph Tella ‘m’, Chigozie Anthony ‘m’, and Sunday Azi ‘m’.

The Police boss further stated that the incident, which occurred on 12th May 2022, at about 0630hrs at Studio 24, Lekki, Lagos, involved an okada rider by the name Dahiru, who had a quarrel with his passengers, Frank Olatunji and Philip Balogun, over the bike fare. 

“In the heat of the argument, Frank Olatunji and Philip Balogun invited the deceased David Sunday to mediate only for Dahiru and his cohorts to violently attack him, kill him and set him ablaze.*

Alabi stated that the investigation was ongoing on and the suspects will be charged to Court after the conclusion of the investigation. 

CP Alabi also emphasized that the Command will not tolerate any act of jungle justice in Lagos. 
“There is no jungle justice in our law and anybody found culpable will be dealt with according to the law“I have charged all my Area Commanders and DPOs that no citizens will be allowed to take laws into their hands.,” CP Alabi said.

He assured the Lagosians of their safety as he he stated that the protection of live and property is the top priority of his vision of policing in the State.
