A 40-year-old businessman, Opeyemi Olanrewaju, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State after his wife caught him defiling their two daughters aged 7 and 5 years.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ijegun area of Lagos, where they reside.
The matter was reported the Police and the man was arrested and consequently charged before the Court for the alleged offence, contravened the provisions of section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, told the Court that the offence was committed between September 2021 and May, 2022, when Olanrewaju’s wife caught him molesting the victims respectively.
However, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Court ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 26th June, 2024, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
