Wife Of Ikeja Council Boss, Mrs. Fausat Dauda Hosts 2025 Spelling Bee Competition

The 2025 edition of the Spelling Bee Competition, held yesterday at the Ikeja Local Government Marriage Registry Hall, was a colourful and intellectually engaging event organized by the Education Department of Ikeja Local Government.

 

The programme brought together pupils and students from various public schools within Ikeja to compete in an atmosphere of learning, excellence, and fun.

The event, hosted by Mrs. Fausat Temitope Dauda, wife of the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), was organized in alignment with the I.K.E.J.A Agenda; a strategic development framework that emphasizes Inspiring Knowledge, Empowering Juveniles, and Advancing Academics within the local government.

 

In her remarks, Mrs. Dauda applauded the initiative of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, OON, CON, for pioneering the Spelling Bee Competition, which continues to nurture young leaders and promote literacy, confidence, and public speaking among Nigerian children. She encouraged the participants to stay focused on their academic dreams and assured them of the administration’s continuous investment in education.

The event had in attendance the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD); the Vice Chairman, Hon. Abisola Omisore; Councilors led by the Leader of the House, Hon. Rasheed Adisa Ogunseye; and the Council Manager, who was ably represented by the Head of Procurement.

 

In the Primary School Category, the winners were:

1st Position: Ismail Zainab; St. Peter’s Primary School

2nd Position: Sanni Abiodun; State Primary School

3rd Position: Keturah Erebor; St. Peter’s Primary School

In the Secondary School Category, the winners were:

1st Position: Amukwu Favour

2nd Position: Napoleon Anointing

3rd Position: Adesanya John

In recognition of their outstanding performance, the winners of the Primary School Category will take on leadership roles for a day as follows:

The 1st Position winner, Ismail Zainab, will serve as the “A Day Chairman” of Ikeja Local Government.

The 2nd Position winner, Sanni Abiodun, will serve as the “Vice Chairman.”

The 3rd Position winner, Keturah Erebor, will serve as the “Leader of the Legislative House.”

The competition was supervised by officials from the Office of Education Quality Assurance, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education; Mrs. Oluwakemi Olalekan and Mrs. Abass Tiwalade alongside Mrs. Adeniji from the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA).

Mrs. Dauda congratulated all participants and winners, noting that the future of Ikeja is bright with the abundance of young talents being nurtured through educational initiatives. She reaffirmed that the administration of Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD) remains steadfast in advancing education, youth empowerment, and leadership development in line with the I.K.E.J.A Agenda.
