With Improved Medal Haul, Team Lagos Pick 5th Position At Delta 2022 NSF

</em> <strong><em>Team Badminton finished on a high on Saturday with 3 gold and 1 bronze medals.</em></strong>

With sports policy focuses on the holistic development, which has been centered on athletes’ development, Lagos State no doubt has an improved result coming out of the just concluded 21st National Sports Festival tagged Delta 2022.
While Team Lagos picked 5th position in Edo 2020 Games, winning 126 medals that comprised 32 gold, 40 silver, 54 bronze; Team Lagos, which paraded the state-based young athletes, are adjudged again `the fifth best team in the Delta 2022 sports festival, having won a total of 172 medals this time around. The medals comprise 41 gold, 57 silver and 74 bronze, trailing behind the winners of the festival, host Delta State which won 320 gold, 200 silver and 128 bronze.
In the second position are Team Bayelsa coasting home 132 gold, 115 silver and 90 bronze medals. Edo State occupied the third position with 78 gold, 94 silver and 167 bronze medals, while Team Oyo clinched the fourth position with 50 gold, 61 silver and 52 bronze medals.
Team Lagos ensured that their medal haul was felt in almost all the sports competed for in the festival, even despite some hiccups and unfair decisions by officials in some sports, Lagos state contingents can hold their heads here celebrating their outing in the Delta 2022 National Sports Festival.
Mr Moses Kolawole Olusegun, the Director, Sports Development in the Lagos State Sports Commission, who is the Leader of the Delegation to the Games summed up Team Lagos’ outing thus: “We praise God for His marvelous work he did for us in this year’s national sports festival tagged Delta 2022.
“We thank our youth loving governor for giving Lagos State’ contingent an opportunity to partake in this year’s national sports festival, that is to say our own governor is a lover of youths and he wants them to succeed in all aspects of life through sports. We say a big thank you sir.
“Also, we thank the Honourable Commissioner of Youths and Social Development, the Executive Chairman, Director General, board members, all the directors, sports association chairmen, SSA Sports and SSA Facility for their great contributions towards the success of this year’s national sports festival.
“We also thank the team officials and the athletes for their great outings in this year’s festival, you are indeed wonderful. Our performance in term of number of medals really surpasses that of last festival, Edo 2020. We shall do better in Ogun State 2024.
“I say a big congratulations to Team Lagos and safe journey back to Lagos.”
