FUNSHO AROGUNDADE
Nigeria’s Sony Music/Starboy star, Wizkid has emerged the best artiste on the continent of Africa as he won the MTV African Music Awards, MAMAs 2016 Artiste of the year award.
Wizkid beat four other artistes including compatriot Yemi Alade to the MAMAs gong at the prestigious ceremony held Saturday night inside TicketPro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Wizkid had earlier won the Best Male Award after which he delivered the most outstanding live performance of his monster hit song Ojuelegba with an ensemble and three hornsmen.
He got the audience on their feet before capping the night with the most coveted award of the night.
Yemi Alade, who co-hosted the show, also won the Best Female Artiste award.
