Woman, 34, Docked For Stealing Wrappers Inside Super Store

A 34-year old woman, Caroline Nicolas, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing wrappers inside a super store and was caught by the owner, Onyinye Onwuegbuna.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at NOJ Fabric/George located at Shasha Road, Akowonjo area of Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect had in the month of March, 2024, stolen the items worth N470,000 and while she was trying to escape, she was caught and handed over to the Police at Shasha Division.
While at the station, the Police interrogated and found her culpable after she reportedly admitted to have done so and offered to pay for the stolen items worth the said money.
However, the complainant asked the Police to prosecute her to serve as deterrent for those who may want to try such in the future.
The Police then charged her before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
She pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, K.A. Ariyo, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 2nd September, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
