Woman, 34, Smashes Rival’s Head With Pestle During Public Brawl

A 34-year old woman has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly smashing the head of her rival, Fatimo Mohammed, with a pestle and inflicted injury on her in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 18th April, 2026 at Agbole area of Isheri, Lagos, where they engaged in a public fight.
Apart from smashing her head, the suspect allegedly poured hot soup and Tuwo on her body, which caused her grievous harm.
The complainant was rushed to an undisclosed hospital and the matter was reported to Isheri Police Division. The suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over her alleged conduct against the complainant.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found her culpable and charged her before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
COUNT 1:”That you, Sofihat Yaro ‘F’ on the 18/04/26 at about 1300hrs at Agbole area of Isheri in the Ikeja magisterial district, did unlawfully assault one Fatimo Mohammed ‘F’ by using a pestle on her head, pouring hot soup and hot Tuwo on her body, which caused her grievous harm, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 245 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
However, she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted her bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
